So happy to report everyone is home safe and well after an amazing trip to Japan.
Over the week, according to my step counter, we walked more than 84km, we also travelled on planes, trains (regular, subway and bullet trains), buses, a rope way, ferry, and a roller coaster. We caught the peak hour Tokyo trains with our luggage and went higher than Australia’s tallest mountain when we reached Mt Fuji’s 5th Station.
Throughout the trip, the students displayed patience, tolerance and resilience. I was extremely proud of the way they embraced every opportunity, even when hungry and tired.
Stand out memories- TC exchanging respectful bows with deers in Nara, EH
‘s joyful expression when the plane took off on her first ever flight, JB handing out souvenir koalas to strangers, EB’s Moonshine City joke, KN’s constant struggle with the head height of most things in Japan, IS and HC surrounded by Japanese primary school children as they exchanged gifts, BW’s collection of extremely large plushies and guaranteed life’s blessings after fitting through Buddha’s nostril, KF’s generosity and reliability, BP’s Gion dining experience, MV’s fashionable Harajuku purchase, JG’s excellent navigating skills, and AS’s Japanese accent and Calpis addiction.
We supported the Japanese economy with a seemingly lifetimes worth of vending machine purchases and came home with a lifetime of memories. We chased geishas in Gion and inadvertently attended a half dozen traditional weddings, cuddled hedgehogs and slept on futon.
Thank you to Mrs Price and Mr Bromhead for your amazing support on this trip. You all made me very proud. Arigatoo! ... See MoreSee Less
