School Uniform Policy
We care about our students and their image in the community. The way students present themselves conveys a strong message about the students themselves and our school. Jamison High has a strict uniform policy and therefore a NEAT and TIDY appearance at all times is essential.

Uniform Passes
Sometimes there may be special circumstances and you may not have your correct uniform. For example wet weather or parental hospitalisation etc. In this situation:
- come to school in the minimum dress requirements, looking neat and tidy with a note written by your parents
- present this note to your period 1 teacher
- your Home Class Teacher will issue you with a uniform pass to excuse your dress on that day
- the uniform pass must be kept all day
- minimum dress (no admission to classes unless met): collared shirt, trousers or skirt, underwear, enclosed shoes and socks or stockings
Show your pride in Jamison High School by the way you dress and in the way you aim to “Achieve Through Cooperation”.
The school uniform for Jamison High School is set by the school community. The school, the parents and other interested members of the community have agreed that the school uniform should be worn by all students.Jamison High School Uniform Shop

Shoes
The NSW Department of Education and Training’s guidelines in relation to safety and footwear in school, under the ‘Work Health & Safety Requirements’, prohibit students participating in practical activities in school if not wearing substantial footwear deemed safe by the Department. Unsafe shoes include those with openings, platform or high heels, shoes made from unprotective, open-weave materials such as canvas and cotton; and other materials that do not provide adequate protection.
At Jamison High School we have developed a uniform policy in conjunction with the P&C Association which meets the Department of Education and Communities requirements, ensuring safety and comfort for our students.
We are proud of our school and school uniform and have high expectations of our students wearing our uniform it its entirety and with pride.
Don’t forget: school shoes are to be all black; the entire foot is to be enclosed by the shoe, including the upper section of the foot; the shoe is to have a stout sole and firm leather uppers; and the shoe is to have low heels.
Special note regarding type of shoes
All students entering practical classes within the Science, Industrial Arts, Visual Arts, Agriculture and Home Economics Departments need to comply with rules set out under the Department of Education and Communities and Work Health & Safety guidelines.
Chemical Safety in Schools Volume 2 p.54 Section 3.3.4.4 states –
Footwear
“Substantial footwear appropriate to a practical activity should be worn. Footwear such as thongs, open weave type shoes, or shoes with openings at toes or heels, platforms or high-heel shoes should not be worn in areas which present hazardous situations. Where indicated by a risk assessment, the wearing of safety footwear is mandatory.”
Thus, when purchasing shoes, in addition to being black the shoes need to be enclosed with laces.
